Why You Should Teach Your Child How to Play Piano Chords

I’ve always regretted the fact that my parents hadn’t given me a chance to learn how to play the piano, or any musical instruments at all, when I was a kid. In the contemporary world where it is much preferred for an individual to be multi-skilled, it is a plus factor to know music even if you are in the corporate world. So parents, try to allow your child to explore the possibilities of music. They will definitely thank you someday.

Teaching a child how to play piano is not as hard at it looks. You will also not be depriving your child his/her childhood my making him submit to the discipline required in acquiring this skill. That’s the thing. In the modern world, learning how to play the piano can be as fun as playtime, in contrast to a lot of traditional ways in teaching piano to kids in the old times.

There are a lot of new methods available out there. A lot of studies have also been done considering a child’s psychology that gave rise to new teaching techniques that includes activities in the form of games, video tutorials that involves characters that can easily capture your child’s attention, and more visual aids. Gone are the days when learning the piano means mind-numbing repetitions.

A lot of studies show too, that a child typically learns by patterns from memory. That is why it is effective to start teaching them how to play piano chords first. Eventually, they can progress into associating notes with the sound of the piano, but teaching them how to play chords is a good start. From there you may be able to apply whatever activities you have in store so they can practice what they have memorized.

Eventually, they may also want to shift to another instrument, such as the guitar. The ability to use chords is one understanding that they can bring with them. Encouraging them to play other instruments will widen their horizons, help them appreciate the art more and will make more room for growth. As mentioned earlier, it is much preferred to be multi-skilled these days and that is especially in the field of music because if you can play multiple instruments, you are more desirable.

Although by the aid of modern methods, learning the piano has become more of a fun activity rather than a disciple, you can’t deny the fact that there is still a bit of discipline involved. This also very helpful in a child’s overall growth because at an early age, you are teaching them what it is like to accomplish something. Eventually, this teaches your child how to be motivated as well as setting long-term goals.
